Now seems like the perfect time to revisit our favorite Country Music movies. What makes a great Country Music movie? Is it the cast? The songs? The story? The answer is all of the above. Check out some of my favorites below.

Coal Miner's Daughter, 1980

Sissy Spacek brought the house down with her performance as Loretta Lynn. So much so, that she won the Oscar for her it in 1981. A young Tommy Lee Jones gives a fantastic portrayal of her husband as well. If you haven't seen this movie in a while, it's definitely worth the rewatch.

Songwriter, 1984

Two of the outlaws together on the silver screen? Sign me up! Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson teamed up in this buddy movie that will surely bring a smile to your face. This movie is a must-watch for any die-hard Willie and Kris fans.

Walk The Line, 2005

What to say about this movie that hasn't already been said? Released shortly after the deaths of both Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, Walk The Line hits every checkpoint a music bio needs to hit to be remembered. With amazing performances by Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon (she won an oscar for playing June), this is the movie that legends like Johnny and June deserved.

Crazy Heart, 2009

Jeff Bridges gives the performance of his career in this flick about a one-time country superstar who unexpectedly finds love and rethinks his life. Another Oscar-winning performance and an amazing soundtrack of original songs to boot.
