Whatever Happened To Nick Barkley?
From 1965 to 1969, we'd all saddle up and take a trip back in time to 'The Big Valley'.
The Barkley clan would entertain us with their adventures each week. The only 'girl' in the family, Audra, along with youngest brother Heath (not a full-blooded Barkley but a brother nonetheless), oldest brother Jarrod, Mother and Matriarch Victoria and middle brother Nick.
Ah, Nick. He was my favorite as i was growing up with this family on our television. Why was he my favorite? Probably for the same reason he was the favorite of millions of others.
Nick Barkley was the one who was the roughest, the toughest, the one who was ready with the fists to fight injustice or bad guys. Not afraid to get dirt, bloodied, bruised if it was for what was....right. And yet, always that big heart underneath that rough exterior. How could you not like Nick??
So who was Nick Barkley?
He was actually actor Peter Breck. In the video clip below, fellow actor and star of 'The Virginian', James Drury, talks about his fellow actor and friend Peter Breck.
So whatever happened to Nick Barkley....ah, I mean peter Breck?
Well, after 'The Big Valley', Breck appeared as a guest star in many television series in the 1970's and 1980's, ultimately moving to Canada in the mid 1980's and operated a full-time acting school, The Breck Academy.
In his later years his wife reported that Breck was suffering from dementia and he passed away in 2012 at the age of 82.
But now, let's go back one more time to 'The Big Valley' and see what Nick and Heath have cooking out on the ranch.
