Born in 1926 in Copeville, Texas, Charlie Walker went on to have great career's, both in Country Music radio and also as one of the great country music artist's of his generation.

Charlie first came to national attention in 1956 with his Top 10 hit 'Only You, Only You', but it was 1958 that was really the 'Charlie Walker Year'.  He had a smash hit with a song that he would sing at every concert for the rest of his great career, 'Pick Me Up On Your Way Down'.

Charlie joined the  World Famous Grand Ole Opry in 1967 and in fact was inducted into the Country Radio DJ Hall of Fame in the early 1980's.  And as a trivia note, did you know Charlie played a minor role in the 1985 hit movie about Patsy Cline, 'Sweet Dreams'?

Charlie passed away in 2008 at the age of 81.  And he left us with some great Classic Country Music memories.
