On Thursday, July 3rd, the staff at Bramble Park Zoo welcomed a new baby male yak calf to the family. The Bramble Park Zoo shared an adorable photo of the little guy on its Facebook page. He's so fuzzy and cute!

Mom Nina and new big sister Hershey are doing well! They have already been bonding with the newest family member on exhibit at the Bramble Park Zoo.

He’s black-and-white, full of energy, and starting to show off his playful side with his sister—when he’s not napping, of course. He is calm, independent, and loves to venture off on his own already.Watch for him in the yak habitat daily from 10–4, and Saturdays until 7

As of right now, the new baby yak does not have a name. But that announcement will be coming soon! Just in case the Bramble Park Zoo needs some name ideas, the Sioux Empire has some suggestions!

S’more would be a good name or checkers, Smudge, Rocky, Domino,Brownie, Shadow, Stormy or Storm, Spot, Tux, Pudding, Mocha, Moose, Bubba, Herbie, Samson, Rex, Ziggy, Ferdinand, Thor. Duke, Marshmallow, Toffee, Hazelnut are some name ideas

Cookie would be a CUTE name

Oreo goes well with Hershey just sayin!

Very cute, Pandi would be cute as he resembles a panda

Congratulations to everyone at the Bramble Park Zoo, Mama Nina, and big sister Hershey! We can't wait to meet him in Watertown.

South Dakota's Weird Exotic Animal Laws Are Amazing

Have an interesting pet or looking to get one? Check this out from South Dakota Exotic Animal Laws before you go trying to adopt one.

You will need a zoo permit to harbor a raccoon dog. That's a real species. It's a small wild dog with a black facial mask and long fur, native to the forests of Asia.
