The history of Country Music is filled with great sing-a-long songs, those songs that stick in your head and without even knowing it, you realize you're singing right along with the radio.

'Elvira'? Yep. 'Okie From Muskogee'? Sure. 'Ocean Front Property'? Of course.

Well, let's take a little trip, shall we? Let's hop in the 'Way Back' machine and land in 1985. No, wait. Late 1984 actually.

Mel McDaniel released a new single called 'Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On' in October of that year, and by February 1985 it was Mel's first and only chart topper. And he had us hooked!

Written by legendary Nashville songwriter Bob McDill, it was first pitched to Conway Twitty, who didn't think it fight his vocal style. As chance (or luck or fate) would have it, it ended up with Mel McDaniel and topped the chart the week of February 23, 1985.

We still have all those great Mel McDaniel classics, but we lost Mel on March 31, 2011 from lung cancer. The Checotah, Oklahoma native was 68 years old.
