Iowa and parts of South Dakota were on high alert early Tuesday evening. An AMBER Alert was issued for 15-year-old teenage girl from Iowa City.

Multiple news outlets in Iowa like KCRG and KWWL previously reported Ophelia Barton was missing. Her abductor? A 42-year-old woman named Lindsey White.

KCRG and KWWL explain that Ophelia Barton was last seen in Nichols around 7 PM. She was last seen in a short-sleeved Disney shirt and red shorts. Ophelia is described as a 5′0″ teenager and weighing 80 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes.

Like some people in the Sioux Empire, I received an AMBER Alert on my phone just after 7 PM. The alert described Ophelia along with her alleged abductor Lindsey White. Lindsey is a 5'5" woman weighing 165 pounds with brown hair and gray eyes. She was seen driving a 2014 blue Jeep Compass. Her Iowa license plate is LIU044.

Thankfully, Ophelia Barton was safely found shortly after the AMBER Alert was issued.

AMBER Alert stands for "America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response." If an AMBER Alert is ever issued, it's important to watch for the child, suspect, and vehicle described in the alert.

A missing child for any parent is always scary. Glad to see that Ophelia Barton was located and the AMBER Alert was canceled.
