Sioux Falls Golfer Wins Tournament After Crazy 16-Hole Playoff
Over the weekend, a Sioux Falls professional golfer just won a local tournament in Yankton after a long playoff battle.
Dakotas Tour golfers Chris Gilman and Mitch Davis went head-to-head on Sunday during an epic final round of the Fox Run Pro-Am in Yankton, South Dakota. But this round went longer than 18 holes and into the night.

Mitch Davis was ahead of Sioux Falls resident Chris Gilman by one shot entering the final round of the three-day Fox Run Pro-Am in Yankton. They teed-off at 1:20 PM and after a challenging start for Chris Gilman, he managed to come back to force a playoff!
This sudden death hole would determine who would win the tournament. But little did these golfers and fans know this would end in a 16-HOLE PLAYOFF WIN! Mitch Davis and Chris Gilman battled for 15 straight holes after consistently matching their talents.
Finally after playing for nearly eight hours, Sioux Falls resident Chris Gilman chipped in for birdie on Hole #9 on the course for the big victory! Mitch Davis was unable to answer. Here's the video of the winning putt from John Thayer.
This is a personal story for me. Chris Gilman is not just a professional golfer in South Dakota, he is also my husband.
Professional golfers on the Dakotas Tour travel to courses in South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and North Dakota. It's a long and rewarding summer. The hope for these golfers is to make it on the PGA Tour. The Dakotas Tour is a fantastic stepping stone to this.
I couldn't be prouder of my husband for making history and getting this huge win!
