South Dakota Creates GoFundMe Page for Aberdeen Mayor & Family

It has been an unimaginable time for Aberdeen, South Dakota Mayor Travis Schaunaman and his family. Mayor Travis and his his two children were involved in a paragliding accident. As a result, he and his 10-year-old daughter suffered "serious but non-life-threatening injuries." 8-year-old son Emerson Schaunaman tragically passed away.

South Dakota communities have been showing their support for the Schaunaman family, and now some residents and businesses are going the extra mile by setting up a GoFundMe Page and a personal family account.

The Dacotah Bank location in Aberdeen are coming together with their neighbors by creating an account called the "Memorial of Emerson Schaunaman."

In a heartfelt Facebook post from Dacotah Bank, officials wanted to do something to help Mayor Travis Schaunaman and his family navigate this "unimaginable loss of their son, Emerson."

An account has been established at Dacotah Bank for those who wish to support the family. Deposits can be made at your local Dacotah Bank branch.

You're welcome to make a donation through the bank. There's also an active GoFundMe Page made by Aberdeen residents. This is their way of showing their endless love, support, and appreciation to the Schaunaman Family.

In times of unimaginable heartbreak, we can only lean on our faith and one another, coming together to make the road ahead just a little less difficult. The Schaunaman family is facing an unimaginable loss and an incredibly difficult journey ahead. To allow their focus to remain where it matters most—on grieving, healing, and simply being together—we hope to ease some of the financial burden that comes with such an unexpected tragedy.

The goal of the GoFundMe Page is set right now at $50,000. Currently, the donation is at $47,161.
