UPDATE: July 29, 2022: The Art of Rap: featuring Ice-T & Bone Thugs-N-Harmony has been added. Snoop Dogg cancels! A quote from Buffalo Chip founder and president Rod Woodruff reads:

"It is with much disappointment that the Buffalo Chip has been advised that Snoop Dogg will not perform at this year’s Rally. We were provided no information or excuse other than that Snoop was said to have decided that he would no longer do any touring and has canceled all appearances, including a European tour.” ~ Buffalo Chip founder and president Rod Woodruff

Spread across eight locations, including local bars, campgrounds and indoor/outdoor stages, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally regularly lures approximately 500,000 people to South Dakota every year. Reports show the occasion also brings around $800 million in revenue to the area.

With three-quarters of a century of history and millions of attendees, who started it all?

The founder is generally considered to be Clarence "Pappy" Hoel. He purchased an Indian Motorcycle franchise in Sturgis in 1936 and formed the "Jackpine Gypsies" that same year.

The first rally was held on August 14, 1938, by the "Jackpine Gypsies" motorcycle club, who still own and operate the tracks, hill climb, and field areas where the rally is centered.

The first event was called the "Black Hills Classic" and consisted of a single race with nine participants and a small audience. The focus of the motorcycle rally was originally racing and stunts.

The event has grown to be one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the world.

I was in Canton, SD, and I happened upon a new mural.

It was really cool and that got me thinking that I know of a few murals in Sioux Falls, but I bet there's more than I realize. So, I put it out on social media for the people of Sioux Falls to tell me where all the murals are!

A few of them I had never seen, or never even been to that part of town, and a few of them, I drive by all the time and never noticed!

I know a few businesses have murals inside their establishments, but I decided to keep it to murals that are totally open for the public to see. No need to be 21!
