90’s Country Music Spotlight: ‘Chattahoochee’ (1993)
There may be a better summer song in country music, but I'm not sure what it is.
When Alan Jackson released 'Chattahoochee' in May of 1993, you knew this was gonna be fun. And it was!
It took a little while to be able to pronounce that title (maybe being a 'northerner' had something to do with that) and in the interest of total honesty...I still have to check letter-by-letter on how to spell it. But I, like you I bet, have no trouble cranking it up and singing along even twenty five years later!
'Chattahoochee' was the third single off Alan's great A Lot About Livin' (And A Little 'Bout Love album. That LP also contained the hits 'She's Got The Rhythm (And I Got The Blues), 'Tonight I Climber The Walls', '(Who Says) You Can't Have It All' and 'Mercury Blues'.
In other words, another fantastic Alan Jackson album filled with great songs (most of which Alan either wrote or co-wrote).
How big was 'Chattahoochee'? Well, it received both the CMA Single of the Year and Song of the Year. Pretty hard to beat that.
Oh, and the video above is one of the most creative and fun video's you'll ever lay eyes (and ears) on.
