Finding the blessings in this Coronavirus (COVID-19) world has been harder and harder as the changes to our world have gone from days to weeks to now months.

One of the things that has been a positive during this time is all of the extra quality time we've gotten to spend with our pets. I know our cats, Milo and Maks, have been loving all of the extra attention they've been getting as we hunker down at home during this pandemic.

But now the unthinkable has happened.

two cats contracting COVID-19 in New York last week, the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is telling us to include our furry family members on the list of things we need to social distance from.

At first glance it looks a bit extreme, but when you dive in a little deeper you'll see that there are a couple of important qualifiers.

The guidelines only apply to pets who interact with people outside the home. So if you've been visiting dog parks or taking your animals to the groomer or the vet and come in contact with others, the CDC wants you to cut back on your face-to-face time with your favorite four-legged friend for a little while.

That may be the hardest sacrifice a lot of us have had to make so far.

The good news? Health officials say the chances of catching Coronavirus from your pet is quite low.
