(AP) - South Dakotans can start voting for president even though it's a month and a half before the Nov. 6 general election.

Early voting for president and other offices was getting under way in the state on Friday. Mail-in ballots were being sent out and early in-person voting sites were opening.

Pennington County Auditor Julie Pearson tells the Rapid City Journal that some voters already know who they want to cast their ballot for, and have no interest in the debates and ads in the lead-up to Election Day. Pearson says others vote early because it is more convenient.
