Parmalee, ‘Already Callin’ You Mine’ [Listen]
Parmalee don't stray from what works with their new song “Already Callin’ You Mine.” The uptempo, love-at-first-sight cut leans heavy into a hooky melody while painting a familiar country picture.
“I barely know you, you barely know me / We ain't but two slow dances into this thing / Come one and sit down, I'll order us a round / I want to know everything,” singer Matt Thomas says after a guitar and drum-drenched introduction.
The group wrote the song with Wade Kirby and Phil O’Donnell, and it stays true to previous Top 5 singles “Close Your Eyes” and “Carolina.” “Already Callin’ You Mine” is an easy love song that leaves open to interpretation what comes after the final chord fades.
“Cause I'm already thinking bout you and me getting out of here and taking a drive / Just slide a little closer, put your head on my shoulder like this ain't our first time / Girl, don't worry bout holdin' on tight / Cause I'm already calling, I'm already calling you mine,” the band sings at the chorus.
After back-to-back mid-tempo hits, this song gets back to the band’s rock roots without pouring it on too heavily for radio success, like maybe they did with their debut, the Top 40 hit “Musta Had a Good Time.” The song should find few obstacles on its way as it climbs the charts in 2015.
Why Fans Will Love It: The hooky uptempo love song is easy to appreciate.
Key Lyrics: "Girl, don't worry bout holdin' on tight / Cause I'm already calling, I'm already calling you mine."
Did You Know?: Parmalee's first country hit came in 2012, but they've been a band since 2001.
