One of the oldest family-owned restaurants in Sioux Falls just shared an update on the new, second location in town.

Nick's Gyros has called Sioux Falls home along West 41st Street for over 40 years, and had hopes of opening a second location on the east side. But now, owners will no longer open a new Sioux Falls location....at least that's what the Sioux Empire thought.

Well, it looks like the joke is on us! In a "tough" update from the owners of Nick's Gyros, they have decided not to move forward with a second location. Owners on Facebook explain this is "due to unforeseen circumstances." Turns out this post was part of an April Fools' Day joke!

Looks like we all fell for this prank! Here's the real update about Nick's Gyros on the east side. Opening day is "getting closer every day!"

The plans are to open officially in a few months. Needless to say, the Sioux Empire breathed a big sigh of relief!

You fooled me. I'm going to get you guys back by setting free the finest cockroaches Sioux Falls has to offer

Ha ha this is so sweet

Ughhhh, I fell for it!

What Is Nick's Gyros in Sioux Falls All About?

Since 1982, Nick's Gyros has been bringing the flavors of Greece with an American twist to Sioux Falls. It's truly a mom-and-pop shop that is a big part of Sioux Falls' history.

Nick's Gyros prides itself on offering its customers an amazing dining experience. Our mission is to create the best Greek food and provide exceptional service that will leave guests feeling satisfied and ready to come back for more.

Besides the Gyro Plate and Gyro Fries, Nick's Gyros does offer burgers and even a Greek Pita Pizza. Yum!

Well played, Nick's Gyros....well played. I can't believe I fell for this! The east side of Sioux Falls is beyond ready and hungry now!

See How East 10th Street in Sioux Falls Has Changed

It's really interesting using Google Streetview to compare the changes from the earliest pictures to the latest.

For Sioux Falls, the earliest views are from 2008 and the latest from early 2022.

Some of the looks aren't the clearest, but it still gives a real good look at how dynamic the east side of Sioux Falls is.
