The Sioux Empire streets feel a little safer thanks to the efforts of local Iowa officers finding an escapee fugitive wanted by the US Marshals.

Police say 33-year-old Angelo Campbell "was serving a seven-year sentence for possession of a firearm by an unlawful drug user and a domestic abuse misdemeanor." I feel like an escape charge will soon be added to his report.

Before they found Angelo Campbell, US Marshals had an idea that he was hiding out somewhere in Northwest Iowa. This is why a lot of local Iowa officers stepped in to help locate Angelo Campbell.

Campbell was last known to be residing in the Sioux City and Woodbury County area. He is described as 5′6″, weighing 170 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes

I didn't know this, but within the US Marshals they have officers located nationwide to help with investigations just like this latest one out of Iowa.

Nationwide, 60 local task forces are dedicated to violent crime reduction by locating and apprehending wanted criminals. These task forces also serve as the central point for agencies to share information on fugitive matters. The Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force comprises officers from the U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement,  Cedar Rapids Police Department, Waterloo Police Department, Marion Police Department, Independence Police Department, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Iowa Department of Corrections

The men and women in blue across Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota are doing their best daily to protect our communities. This recent apprehension just proves that! And remember, always be aware of your surroundings!

4 South Dakota Stories Featured on 'Unsolved Mysteries'

I am a longtime fan of the television show Unsolved Mysteries. The classic version from the 80s/90s. I remember a few times the late Robert Stack introduced a mystery in South Dakota.

Looking through their archives, we found four South Dakota mysteries that were featured on Unsolved Mysteries. Do you remember these cases that still have a lot of unanswered questions?
