Local Police Confirm Missing South Dakota Hiker Has Passed Away
It's hard on a family when a loved one goes missing. It's even harder that the missing person is found deceased. One South Dakota family is feeling this heartbreak right now.
34-year-old South Dakota resident Brock Reid was reported missing by his family last week after not hearing "from him in over 8 hours."

What Happened to Brock Reid?
Fall River County Sheriff Office in Hot Springs, South Dakota, noted in a Facebook post that Cottonwood Springs Dam was one of his favorite spots to visit. Before they called police, Brock's family went to the dam to find him. They found his car and his phone, but no Brock.
With the help of multiple first responders, Fall River County Sheriff Office conducted a variety of searches for Brock, starting with the Cottonwood Springs Dam. Later, law enforcement expanded its search.
Brock Reid was reported missing on Sunday, March 22nd, 2026. Last week, in the same Facebook post, police confirmed that Brock Reid was found and had passed away.
