Iowa and Minnesota Both Land Cities on this ‘Best Places’ List
There are many ways you can rank places these days, but a few cities were recently recognized as great places to raise and care for a family.
A few cities in our area, one in Iowa and one in Minnesota, made the cut on the list produced by a recent Fortune article.
Here's the premise of the article and it's goals:
To find hometowns that provided the right mix to meet the needs of multigenerational families, Fortune analyzed more than 215,000 data points for nearly 2,000 cities and towns across the U.S. Here are the communities that stood out.
These are cities that aren't just great for caring for children, but also meeting the needs of those that may need to care for aging parents as well.
Here is the top 10, as well as the two cities from our region that made the cut:
1) Ann Arbor, Michigan
2) Wylie, Texas
3) Olathe, Kansas
4) Mason, Ohio
5) Morrisville, North Carolina
6) Clearfield, Utah
7) Gaithersburg, Maryland
8) Leesburg, Virginia
9) West Chicago, Illinois
10) Novi, Michigan
Here's where two cities in our neck of the woods found themselves in the top 25:
14) Woodbury, Minnesota
The long Minnesota winters may be a drag elsewhere, but this Twin Cities bedroom community has adapted by bringing the outdoors inside with a climate-controlled indoor public park that offers year-round events and programs.
18) Iowa City, Iowa
If the roar of the crowd at nearby University of Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium doesn’t give you a sense of community, this city’s prevalent “Midwest nice” attitude is sure to win you over.
It's no surprise that our area has a lot to offer families, and there are always many factors to consider when looking for your next great place to call home.
