I guess a good strategy for gaining market share on a product that you sell is to come up with different versions of the same thing. Instead of just trying to sell more of the same thing, for example a food item, offer new flavors.

That should increase sales alright. That is, if the new flavors are good.

Coming up with new flavors though, seems to be where the problem comes in. The new flavor thinker-uppers, appear to be weird at times.

I just did a story recently on a new flavor for an old brand of potato chips. Lays is coming with grilled cheese tomato soup chips. I haven't agreed with all of their new ideas.

I also have had an issue with our friends at Oreo. Some of the flavors they have come out with have been downright gross to me.

Here are a few examples:

  • Lemon
  • Peanut Butter
  • Watermelon
  • Birthday Cake
  • Swedish Fis
