Sometimes you only have one opportunity to make it big in Hollywood. However, lightning can strike twice. One former South Dakota resident just got another shot competing on the 23rd season of NBC's The Voice.

Jej Vinson, formerly of Flandreau, is once again turning heads on national television. Jej was a former contestant on season 16 of The Voice. He was part of Kelly Clarkson's team making it to the Top 13. Now Jej is back on the singing competition show as part of the trio Sheer Element.

New Voice coaches Chance the Rapper and Niall Horan were blown away by Sheer Element's rendition of Silk Sonic's "Leave the Door Open." Jej's former coach Kelly Clarkson didn't even realize it was him until she turned her chair at the last minute. Her exact words, "Oh my God...Jej?!"

This blind audition just proves that anyone can get a second chance at their dreams. Jej along with his friends Izzy Kaye and Tabon Ward got a three-chair turn. Who's their coach this season on The Voice? To no one's surprise...they went with Team Kelly!

If you have not heard Jej Vinson sing before, you're missing out on this talented singer. During his 2019 audition of The Voice, he performed Drake's "Passionfruit" with a twist. This performance earned him a four-chair turn. Fun fact: Country singer Blake Shelton was the first to turn his chair!

Jej is not only talented, but extremely kind and humble. I had a chance to interview Jej when he was doing his first stint of NBC's The Voice. He also has a great appreciation for South Dakota, especially the Flandreau community.

Sheer Element is moving onto the Battle Rounds! Watch NBC's The Voice on KDLT Monday nights at 7 PM and Tuesday nights at 8 PM.

South Dakota is cheering for you, Jej!
