It's been held every year since before most of us were born. It's one of the greatest state fairs in the United States. For many Iowa families, and many more families in surrounding states, it's an annual tradition.

But not this year.

According to the Des Moines Register, the Iowa State Fair has become another casualty of the Coronavirus Pandemic. The 2020 version of the event has been canceled.

According to the report, the decision was made on Wednesday morning (June 10) in a vote during the board meeting. There's a possibility that various 4-H exhibits and events may be held sometime in August.

But as far as the family fun that encompasses the Iowa State Fair...not this year.
