If you film it, they will come.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports that a "Field Of Dreams" television series is in the works, and the limited series will film in some locations in Iowa this summer--just not the actual site where the big-screen version took place.

According to an exclusive announcement by the Hollywood Reporter, the show will use "local crew, suppliers and vendors for construction, catering, transportation, and set decoration." That's certainly good news and likely to be music to the ears of "Field of Dreams" purists who may have been rattled by the recent news of what the Dyersville site is about to become.

Not much is known about the television series' story at this time, but the Hollywood Reporter notes, it "will reimagine the movie's mixture of family, baseball, Iowa, and magic that made the feature so enduring and beloved."

It's being created by the folks behind popular sitcoms "The Office", "Parks and Recreation", "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", and "The Good Place" and, according to KWWL, the filming locations will include Polk, Mahaska, Clinton, and Boone counties. Lawrence Gordon, a producer of the movie, will also be involved.

Naturally, they'll do some production as well in "bigger" locations like Boston, Minneapolis, and Los Angeles.

Why not Dyersville itself? It's partly due to the scheduling of the second-ever Major League Baseball game there, set for August 11 at the storied Field Of Dreams. Two days before that, a minor league game between local teams the Cedar Rapids Kernels and Quad City River Bandits, using throwback names the Bunnies and Blue Sox, respectively, will also take place.

There's no word on when the show will begin airing, but when it does, the Peacock streaming network will do the honors. You can even work on the show as a production assistant by joining Universal Productions' "P.A. Bootcamp" on June 4-5.
