It seems like it's been all about the Field of Dreams around here lately, but according to KCRG, another Iowa landmark has won a national award. Do you remember the Bridges of Madison County?  They are a revered Iowa tourist attraction that was made into a book and movie in their own right, and they're also a real thing.

The Covered Bridges Scenic Byway back in May won a national award for "Best Interpretation".  Info from their website says "the Covered Bridges Scenic Byway offers visitors a journey into iconic America. Dotting the classic Iowa landscape are the famed covered bridges of Madison County, immortalized in the novel, movie, and musical, The Bridges of Madison County."

It's a connection to the birthplace of actor John Wayne and the only museum dedicated to him, as well as the Iowa Quilt Museum and many other unique and historic Iowa destinations.

The award was given for the 16-page "Discovery Guide" created for the byway, to help folks understand the significance of the Covered Bridges Scenic Byway in Winterset and, by extension the Bridges of Madison County. According to KCRG:

The booklet contains an introduction to the byway, a two-page spread on each of six byway stories/themes (including an overview of that story, historic and current photographs, a featured asset, and a table of sites to see if the visitor is interested in that particular story), contact information, directions to the Covered Bridges Scenic Byway, and addresses for welcome centers along the route.
