KEYSTONE, S.D. (AP) — A group that has raised millions of dollars for Mount Rushmore National Memorial has lost its contract to manage the park's parking operations.

The National Park Service says it's awarded a 10-year contract to Colorado-based Xanterra Parks and Resorts Inc. to operate the parking garage, as well as food, beverage, merchandise and souvenir sales. The contract goes into effect in October.

The Mount Rushmore Society had managed the park's parking garage for at least 20 years.

Xanterra is the park's current concessioner for food, beverage and retail operations. The contract announced Wednesday merges those operations and the management of the parking garage.

Under the new contract, the standard parking rate will be reduced from $11 to $10. The parking pass will be valid for one year.
