Good news from Watertown.  Businesses that were forced to close in efforts to contain COVID-19 can reopen.

During a special Monday night meeting, the Watertown City Council unanimously voted to allow an emergency ordinance to expire at midnight on April 27, 2020.

Dakota News Now reports that emergency order went into effect on March 26 had forced the closure of non-essential businesses in Watertown.

Fitness clubs, the bowling alley, arcades, movie theaters, and entertainment venues were ordered to close.

Businesses that are reopening must still follow safety guidelines listed in Governor Kristi Noem's executive order, including social distancing.

As of April 28, Codington County has only one confirmed active case of COVID-19.
