Today is the perfect example of the weather we have to deal with in the winter. It's a serious situation.

Most of us have to go out into it whether we want to or not to be at our jobs and so on. But if we have car trouble, it could be life or death.

Being prepared can make the difference. When State Farm surveyed over 1000 drivers nationwide, they found that 99 percent of us have at least one of these items in our trunk, but only 9 percent have all seven.

7 Things To Have in Your Car For Emergencies:

  1. Jumper cables
  2. Spare tire
  3. Hazard triangle/road flares
  4. Flashlight
  5. First aid kit
  6. Water
  7. Blanket

And that's not all. You should open your trunk at least twice a year and test the equipment to make sure it's working properly. After all, a flashlight with dead batteries won't do you any good.

Also, be sure your cell phone charger is compatible with either a power outlet or a USB port in your car. Communication capability can be the number one lifeline in some roadside emergency cases.
