USA Today is trying to find the best high school mascot in America, and five South Dakota mascots have made the cut.

The Kernels of Mitchell, Irrigators of Newell, Cobblers of Rapid City Central, Cossacks of Sioux Valley, and Scoopers of Sturgis have been nominated as state finalists.  The top vote getter advances to the regional round of the competition.

The top six mascots, one from each region, have the chance to be named the best high school mascot in America. Prize money will be awarded to the top six schools’ athletic departments.

Here's the link to cast your vote. Voting starts Monday and runs until March 25th.
