Washington Warriors Defeat O’Gorman to Win First 11AAA Title
Chad Stadem has taken the Washington Warriors back to a state championship as his team defeated O'Gorman 27-24 on Saturday night.
The Warriors claimed their first 11AAA championship after being down by 10 points three different times throughout the game. Quarterback Jack Schelhaas finished the game 20-29 for 316 yards and three touchdowns. He also led the team in rushing with 81 yards. Logan Uttecht caught seven passes for 151 yards and a touchdown.
The play of the game occurred in the 4th quarter when Washington wide receiver Ty Smith ripped the football out of the hands of cornerback Antonio Casiello, turning a potential interception into the game winning touchdown. Smith finished with 108 yards and two touchdowns.
O'Gorman had an opportunity at the end of the game to go on one final drive for a potential tie or win. Quarterback Luke Fritsch threw an interception into the hands of Michael Enalls to end the game.
Washington has claimed their 4th state championship (three in 11AA, one in 11AAA).
