Forecast: Rain, Snow Move into the Region
From First Alert Weather Center Meteorologist Aaron Doudna
We're tracking a significant system moving through that will be bringing with it snowfall accumulations back to parts of the Dakota News Now viewing area.
Snow has already started falling across parts of northern and central South Dakota with some moderate snow already in northern South Dakota. A bulk of the snowfall arriving for Thursday will be in western to portions of north-central South Dakota. Sioux Falls will see falling temps through the day.
Snowfall accumulations look to range between 4 to 6 inches in western to north-central South Dakota to an inch or less in the east. Another issue will be the threat for ice accumulation especially in areas around Brookings and going northbound.
Temperatures on Friday will remain colder as the precipitation ends. There may be a few light snow showers along and east of I-29 Friday morning, but much of Friday will just be cooler and cloudy.
We'll be back in the mid-40s on Saturday for those of us that don't receive as much snowfall.
Sunday we'll be back in the 50s with a chance for some spotty rain showers.
