Uber’s Paperwork Incomplete to Begin Service in Sioux Falls
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Officials say Uber has failed to provide necessary paperwork to begin ride-hailing services in South Dakota's largest city.
The Argus Leader reports that subsidiary of the transportation network company submitted an application to the Sioux Falls licensing office last month, along with a $1,500 annual license fee.
But city licensing specialist Jamie Palmer says a license has not been granted because Uber must provide proof of a sales tax license. The requirement is one of the stipulations included in the city's revamped driver-for-hire rules that took effect last fall.
Uber spokeswoman Carla Jacobs wouldn't say if the company plans to obtain a sales tax license. But she says the company is "continuing to work with the city" on its application.
