Three Versions Of The Greatest Country Music Song Ever

With apologies to George Jones and 'He Stopped Loving Her Today', which is one whale of a great country song, here's what I would vote the greatest country song ever.

It was written by the late, legendary Lefty Frizzell and one of country music's greatest songwriter's, Sanger D. Shafer.

In fact, here's Lefty himself singing 'That's The Way Love Goes'.

In 1973, Country Star Johnny Rodriguez recorded and released 'That's The Way Love Goes' as a single.  It became his 4th chart hit and his 3rd #1 hit in a row.

But I guess the thing that cemented it for me as being my all-time favorite country song was when Merle Haggard (yes, in my opinion, the greatest country singer ever) released 'That's The Way Love Goes' in 1983 and it topped the charts again.  For me, Merle's is the definitive version of the greatest country song ever.
