A kid born in Corsicana,Texas and raised there and in El Dorado, Arkansas may have been the most influential artist in country music history.

Whoa, Hoss! You got anything to back up a statement like that?

Well, when you have legend's like Merle Haggard, George Jones, Willie Nelson and Keith Whitley citing the guy as one of their biggest influences, yes, I think that would put William Orville Frizzell in the conversation of most influential ever.

In other words, when you're lovin' you some Hag, Possum or Willie music, you might give a tip of the proverbial hat to Lefty.

One of the most definitive honky-tonk sings in the history of the music we love, Lefty left us much too early in 1975 at the age of 47.  And while a massive stroke may have taken the man off the planet, obviously the music he gave us lives still. When you hear a new traditional sounding country song...yep, there he is, at least a little bit.
