This Monday night after the Thanksgiving holiday, (Dec. 2) the top 10 Voice contestants came down to the wire, performing live for coaches Blake SheltonKelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani and John Legend, as well as for America's votes.

Team Clarkson's Jake Hoot has been a fan favorite for weeks due to his no-nonsense country style, so when he announced he'd be doing Rhett Akins' "That's Not My Truck," it was special. It was even more special when he explained why he'd picked that song. "I'm singing for my cousin Colton who was killed in Afghanistan," he explained. "He was a Marine. Colton has been gone about nine years. It's been hard on the family, it's something we think about all the time."

"I wear a bracelet that's got his name on it," he added. "I always look down on my guitar to watch my hands play the chords. It's a cool reminder to see his name there."

After his performance, the coaches were wowed, with Stefani piping up to say it was likely his best delivery on the show to date.

Shelton agreed, saying, "As hard as it is for me to say, Kelly is doing an incredible job with you. I got to be honest, man. Sounds great. You're with the coach you need to be with...you're killing it."

An incredulous Clarkson replied, "I mean, hell has frozen over." She recovered quickly, musing that "It's like we're watching your show, you are so good." She was fast to add, however, "You know that. Don't get a big head."

We'll be following along each week to keep up with the Season 17 competition, so be sure to check in weekly to check the progress of your favorites on the show.
