Two South Dakota men accused of trying to hide their ownership of a farm and its income have been found guilty of federal tax crimes.

Acting U.S. Attorney Randolph Seiler on Tuesday announced the verdict against 67-year old Ted Nelson and his 45-year old son Steven Nelson.

Prosecutors accuse the Nelsons of creating over 30 trusts, corporations and other entities in 2004 in an effort to hide their ownership of a Letcher farm and its income. Authorities say the Nelsons planted and sold grain, raised cattle, ran hunting and lodging businesses, and leased and sold some of their land.

Prosecutors also accuse the Nelsons of opening bank accounts with themselves or another person as signors using false information.

The Nelsons are scheduled to be sentenced in August.
