It's been a difficult few weeks for those inside the South Dakota State Penitentiary

Employees at the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls are feeling a little uneasy on this New Year's Eve day.

If you thought a second assault on a correctional officer was bad...think again. There was supposed to be a third attack on another officer.

Two inmates physically attacked the officers

22-year-old Noah Schuler left the Sioux Falls Community Work Center Tuesday (May 3) without authorization

The escape happened Friday (September 17)

Prison inmate Brandon Scott was placed on escape status after not returning from a community service job site on Thursday.

In addition to the terminations, another State Penitentiary employee has been placed on administrative leave.
