South Dakota’s Cattle On Feed Report

South Dakota feedlots with capacities of 1,000 or more animals reported 240,000 cattle on feed on March 1st. That's up 4 percent from last year.

The Agriculture Department says in its latest report that placements in feedlots during February totaled 39,000 head, down 13 percent from 2013.

Marketing of fed cattle during February totaled 36,000 head, down 8 percent from last year.

Other disappearance during February totaled 3,000 head, up 2,000 head from last year.
