Sioux Falls Shocked After Donut Shop Secretly Closes
It is always refreshing to see individuals patronize local businesses and consistently offer their support, however it truly has been a challenging time for small business owners. Maintaining a thriving business has been rather difficult the past couple of years. Given the circumstances, it is certainly not at all unusual to discover that another popular Sioux Falls business has closed.
When a business closes in Sioux Falls, it’s pretty common for the business to share the news with the community. It's especially difficult to keep a secret in Sioux Falls let alone close a business without anyone knowing about it. One donut shop however did exactly just that. So what Sioux Falls donut shop recently disappeared? Furthermore, how did the town find out?
According to a brief story from our partners at Dakota News Now, Daylight Donuts in downtown Sioux Falls has permanently closed its doors. Daylight Donuts has been in business since 1987 and has been a staple in Sioux Falls for 35 years. There is just one mystery that remains, Daylight Donuts never made an official announcement about its closure. If someone were to do a Google Search for Daylight Donuts, the search results would reveal only that the business is "permanently closed."
Besides the Google Search, the phone number listed for Daylight Donuts is out of service. Google Search also indicates that Daylight Donuts has been closed for at least a month.
I drove along Minnesota Avenue into Downtown Sioux Falls this past weekend. Daylight Donuts which was located in the building at 333 S. Minnesota Avenue was completely empty. It was totally cleaned out. The Daylight Donuts' sign was the only visible piece of evidence that the location was once a donut shop. It basically looks like the donut shop was never there.
Despite this surprising closure, there is another Daylight Donuts location in Mitchell. It is now the only remaining Daylight Donuts’ storefront in South Dakota.
