It’s another turn in a highly-charged story with state and local officials looking to enforce the law. The man who made the Facebook Live rant is back in custody.

Attorney General Marty Jackley and Lincoln County State’s Attorney Tom Wollman released a joint press release explaining the next phase of the saga for 45-year old Ehab Abdulmutta Jaber. For now Jaber is back in custody after failing a drug test as a condition of being released from jail on bond.

It started on April 9, 2017, when Jaber was allegedly at a hotel in Sioux Falls and attempting to videotape an event while carrying a handgun. After he was escorted from the event without incident, Jaber according to Jackley, “later was found to be live-streaming terrorist threats to the public and brandishing a number of firearms and ammunition.”

Jaber was eventually arrested and charged with making a terrorist threat on April 21 in Lincoln County. An additional possession of methamphetamine charge was added in Minnehaha County.

Bond was posted on Tuesday April 25 and one of the conditions of Jaber’s bond was that he take part in the 24/7 sobriety program. When tested, the results came back positive for methamphetamine which now brings an additional charge of ingestion of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.

In the statement, Jackley firmly stated his feelings on this case.

“The nature and severity of these charges, in addition to further allegations and developments, warrant the defendant be placed in custody. At a minimum, stronger bond conditions are necessary to protect the public.”

Ingestion of a controlled substance, methamphetamine is a class 5 felony, punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment and/or $10,000 fine.
