Sioux Falls Restaurant Confirms Status for 2027 Burger Battle

Although the next Downtown Sioux Falls Burger Battle is four months away, people are already booking their favorite restaurant for January. But one local eatery is already alerting burger fans its name won't be on the ballot in 2027.

Chef Lance's on Phillips will not be part of the upcoming Downtown Sioux Falls Burger Battle. Why? Well...the staff wants to take a break.

The two-time Burger Battle Champions explained in a surprising Facebook post that the local restaurant already has 14 reservations in January all for Burger Battle. Since people are already booking tables this far in advance, officials with Chef Lance's on Phillips made the announcement that the eatery is taking a backseat in 2027.

Chef Lance's on Phillips loves Burger Battle and how it fuels the local economy. But at the same time, businesses could feel overwhelmed and over-worked during the month of January. That's why the staff at Chef Lance's on Phillips will support other local restaurants during Burger Battle by enjoying burgers, not cooking them.

The demand is overwhelming and we couldn't be more thankful for that. However, we see the toll it takes on our staff and on ourselves as owners. It's total burnout for an entire month. We absolutely LOVE our Chef Lance family and they are what's most important to us. We will participate by eating as many burgers as we can, just not our own.

It looks like fans of Chef Lance's on Phillips are supportive of the restaurant's decision not to participate in 2027. In fact, they appreciate the restaurant allowing the staff to relax during the month of January.
