Sioux Falls Is One of Women’s Health’s ‘Wellthiest’ Cities
In the nearly 30 years I've lived here, I have never Sioux Falls looking better.
The downtown area is as vibrant as its ever been. New businesses are opening all over town. There has never been a better variety of places to live in - and around - the city, than now.
But it's not just the vibe of Sioux Falls as a city that's at the top of its game, we're also taking better care of ourselves these days.
And others are taking notice.
In the current issue of Women's Health, Sioux Falls is included on a list of the 15 'Wellthiest' cities in America.
To find them, the magazine partnered with Yelp to see how many healthy-lifestyle businesses and amenities cities offered in relation to their population size. They then used Yelp's own data to see how often people searched for those businesses.
Not only did Sioux Falls make the cut, but four local businesses were highlighted as contributing to the overall 'wellthiness' of the city:
- Santosha Hot Yoga - Their barre method was singled out. It's a form of exercise using the ballet barre and its incorporation of movements derived from ballet.
- Amy Miller Training (AMT) - Featuring 'hot sculpt' yoga with dumbbells.
- Thrive Pilates Studio - Using the Stott style of Pilates, focusing on the natural curvature of the spine.
- Soul Movement - Putting a twist on yoga by using chairs, bolsters, straps and stability balls.
The other 'Wellthiest' Cities:
- Portland, Oregon
- Albuquerque, New Mexico
- Berkeley, California
- Newton, Massachusetts
- St. Petersburg, Florida
- Henderson, Nevada
- Virginia Beach, Virginia
- Anchorage, Alaska
- Austin, Texas
- Durham, North Carolina
