With the Labor Day Holiday weekend just ahead of us and Hurricane Harvey behind us it looks like we can expect a big spike in gas prices.

The nation's largest gas refinery that is located in Port Arthur, Texas has now shut down. It was one of the many refineries that has stopped production along the Gulf Coast.

Sioux Falls Better Business Bureau Director, Jessie Schmidt, says:

With refineries being shut down the largest refinery in the US is shut off, naturally that will lessen the supply in a high demand time over the holiday weekend. We can expect prices to rise over the holiday weekend and for sometime after that.

According to GasBuddy.com prices in Sioux Falls range from around $2.19 to $2.27 per gallon.  It's estimated that the price per gallon could increase as much as $.20 cents per gallon through the Labor Day Holiday.
