According to a new study, another benefit of medical marijuana might be reducing the size of cancerous tumors – or eliminating them altogether.

According to the National Library of Medicine National Institute of Health, researchers have found that when marijuana, or more specifically a concentrated form of cannabinoids, is used after chemotherapy treatments, the combination killed cancer cells at a better rate than chemo alone. When the cannabinoids were used before a round of chemo, it wasn't as effective.

The tests showed promise when working in animals and researchers believe it will be just as effective on people with aggressive forms of brain cancer.

Because of the boost from marijuana, cancer patients who mix the two end up needing less chemotherapy. And that is something worth researching further.
