Prisoner Back in Custody After Standoff
YANKTON, S.D. (AP) — A 26-year-old state prison inmate who failed to return to a minimum-security unit in Yankton is in custody after a standoff in Sioux Falls.
Frederick Little was arrested on Saturday evening. He was supposed to return to the Yankton Minimum Unit from his work release job by 6:30 p.m. Friday but did not show up.
Sioux Falls police Lt. Galen Smidt says officers responded to apartment Saturday afternoon on a report that an armed man was inside with a woman and two small children.
The women and children left, leaving the man alone inside, and he surrendered after a couple of hours of negotiations.
Little is currently serving a 10-year sentence out of Tripp County for grand theft and a 3-year sentence out of McCook County for 3rd degree burglary.
