If you're a student in the Sioux Falls area with dreams of being on the big screen, filmmakers are looking for you!
Our news partners at Dakota News Now are reporting movie crews are planning to film a new story called His Name is Michael. This story is "inspired by true events that took place in the late 1800s in Nevada." Filming is set to take place in Lakeport, South Dakota, which is located near Yankton.
Dakota News Now explains His Name is Michael is "a heartwarming Catholic-based film that carries the tagline, 'The only priest in Nevada battles demons and outlaws for the soul of a boy with no name.' " Before filming can begin, production is looking to cast between 15-20 students as extras in the movie. Specifically, the movie is looking to cast students who are between 9-12 years old.
Crews are scheduled to begin filming on November 18th, 19th, and possibly 20th if needed. This is a great opportunity for any student who wants a career in acting one day! Students won't even have to travel far! You'll gain hands-on experience right in South Dakota.
