Ex-Boyfriend Shoots Self, Charged With Stalking Ex-Girlfriend
A former boyfriend pulled up in his ex-girlfriend's driveway in the eastern part of Sioux Falls. That's when the woman called police.
"She saw him and was concerned because they hadn't been together for awhile. She contacted us at that time," said Sioux Falls Police Spokesman Sam Clemens. "When officers went to talk to the man they found a gun inside the car. So, they backed away. They were trying to talk him out of the car to end the situation safely. This lasted several hours. The SWAT team and negotiators were called out."
Around 2:45 A.M. Friday, Clemens says officers heard a gunshot.
"It turns out the man had shot himself in the stomach. He was taken to the hospital for his injuries."
Clemens says 58-year-old Roger Eugene Stansell of Renner, who remains hospitalized, faces misdemeanor stalking charges.
