One of Iowa’s Most Infamous Cold Cases Could Soon Break
It's been 30 long years since one of the coldest cases in Iowa history shocked the community of Mason City and perplexed investigators statewide. The Hawkeye State has changed a lot since then. Yet, one question remains: What happened to KIMT News Anchor Jodi Huisentruit?
Recent developments in the case are giving those who have followed the missing journalist's disappearance hope. That's because, earlier this week, a judge ordered that decades-old police search warrant documents may be unsealed.

This ruling seeks to unseal records from back in 2017 relating to John Vansice, a "person of interest" in Huisentruit's disappearance. These records pertain to tracking devices that were placed on two of Vansice's vehicles.
John Vansice moved to Arizona years ago and died in December 2024.
Jodi was a morning news anchor on KIMT in Mason City, Iowa. She was running late for work on June 27, 1995, when she was abducted by an unknown assailant. Despite the nearly 30 years since Huisentruit was abducted, hope remains, and many remain vigilant that her family and the state of Iowa will soon find closure.
The website, FindJodi.com remains active and even has a podcast, which breaks the case down into further detail.
While many are skeptical that these records will provide any sort of "smoking gun", it's still believed that someone knows something, and it's only a matter of time before the truth will come out.
