One of the best voices ever heard in country music, belongs to a guy that also happens to be a good friend of mine. His name is Jimmy Fortune.

Jimmy became a member of The Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008 along with the other members of the legendary Statler Brothers.

Jimmy joined the group in 1982, replacing the ailing LewDeWitt. The Statlers needed a replacement tenor singer.

Getting this job tells the whole story on Jimmy's talent. I mean, here's a music group that's won ten Vocal Group of the Year honors from the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music, and he's the one they pick.

And not only does he fill the big shoes, in my opinion, he brought the Statlers to a whole new level. Not just as a singer, but also as a writer, penning several number one hits.

When his fellow Statler members retired in 2002, Jimmy began a solo career. Since then he has put out some fine work, and now he presents a new album.

Jimmy Fortune: Sings the Classics will be available April 21. Jimmy tells us,

This project is very special and dear to my heart. A lot of hard work and thought went into picking each song, songs that shaped my life. I love them all and I think anyone who hears it will feel the same way.
