Mrs. Murphy’s Irish Gifts Gets Ready to Say Slán (Goodbye)!
For 26 years Mrs Murphy's Irish gifts has been a fixture in the downtown Sioux Falls area. But the Murphy family has been here even longer and the closing of their iconic downtown shop doesn't mean the end of the Murphy's participation in all things Irish in Sioux Falls.
We spoke to a very busy Dick Murphy on Monday as he juggled our questions while trying to help a store full of customers who were shopping their 40% off closing sale.
If you're like a lot of Sioux Falls residents with any Irish heritage at all, Mrs. Murphy's Irish Gifts has been a destination for Irish products of all kinds, from clothing to candy, decorations to grocery items, and everything in between.
Dick and Sandy Murphy had hoped to turn the business over to new owners, but that has not happened. So instead they're saying slán or goodbye to their Sioux Falls customers.
But they'll still be showing their Irish pride at next year's 44th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and plan to participate in the parade for years to come and continue their tradition of celebrating St. Patrick's Day with the Sioux Falls community.
