You may not have been a fan of the 1960's pop music group 'The Monkees'. But they did have one cool ride!

The man who created the Monkeemobile and other TV cars has passed away.

(AP) - The man who created the Monkeemobile has died.

The Los Angeles Times reports car customizer Dean Jeffries died in his sleep last week at his home in Los Angeles. He was 80.

Jeffries modified a 1966 Pontiac GTO convertible in just ten days for use on "The Monkees" TV show. He also created the "Black Beauty" for "The Green Hornet" TV show.

He later worked as a stunt driver and a stunt producer.
