The final What Cheer Flea Market of the year is coming up quick! The popular event is set for Thursday, October 3rd through Sunday, October 6th.

The What Cheer Flea Market is a MASSIVE shopping event that is held three times a year over at the Keokuk County Fairgrounds. The spring market was back in early May, the summer market took place August 1st through the 4th, and the fall market is still on its way. After the October market is over, you'll have to wait more than half a year for the next one!

According to Facebook, the What Cheer Flea Market is on its 48th year, and is considered of one of the largest flea markets in the entire Midwest. The August 2024 event had more than 400 vendors across 20 acres of land! Some of the items you'll be able to find at the event include antiques, furniture, jewelry, toys, baseball cards, stamps, coins, and much, much more.

If you're planning to attend the October 2024 What Cheer Flea Market, there are a few things you need to know. First of all, here are the daily hours and cost of admission:

  • "Early Bird" Thursday, October 3rd
    • Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    • $6 admission
  • Friday, October 4th
    • Open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • $4 admission
  • Saturday, October 5th
    • Open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • $4 admission
  • Sunday, October 6th
    • Open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    • FREE admission

Saturdays are typically the busiest day of the market, which means longer lines and more traffic. There are several food vendors on the grounds, and their busiest hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., so plan accordingly.

As far as what to bring, it is recommended that you have bags or a wagon/cart for your purchases, and having cash is encouraged, although there are two ATMs on-site. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as you'll be doing a LOT of walking. The market allows golf carts and scooters for people who are "physically unable to get around the grounds on their own." Pets are also allowed, as long as they are on a leash and you clean up after them.
