Ranking South Dakota’s Public Restrooms
When ya gotta go, ya gotta go. And sometimes when you really want to avoid a public bathroom you just have to deal with it. We've all been there. You can practically hear the dreadful Jaws theme walking up to a gas station bathroom in the middle of nowhere. The ominous theme in your head switches to the Psycho theme upon opening the stall door.
Lavatory Labs recently conducted a nationwide survey on how people would rate their state's public restrooms. South Dakota fared rather average rating them a 5 out of 10.
The number crunchers and survey takers also included a swell map in which you can move your cursor over any state for the results of the poll.

It turns out that many state restrooms are not living in the dreamy world of Charmin bears and fluffy Cottonelle clouds saying that lots of the bathrooms lack toilet paper, paper towels, and overall cleanliness.

Each state was scored on a scale of 1-to-10 with 10 being the best, and it found that the best restrooms to relieve yourself in are found in Vermont and Maine, with each receiving a top score of 8 out of 10. Conversely, the worst facilities, with a low score of 3.5 out of 10, are in Wyoming, where you're probably better off holding it. It's a big state so it'll be difficult. Neighboring states Iowa and Minnesota each scored 6.1 out of 10 while North Dakota scores a somewhat impressive 7 out of 10.
